Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank dies at 49

Jason David Frank, who played Tommy Oliver on the 90s Power Rangers show, has died in Texas. He was 49 years old.

“His family and friends ask for privacy during this terrible time as we deal with the loss of such a wonderful man.” Frank’s manager Justin Hunt wrote in a statement.

The cause of his death is not yet clear.

Frank was best known for his role as Tommy Oliver in the television series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”. The series ran for three seasons from 1993 to 1996. According to the IMDb page, Frank’s “Tommy Oliver” character appeared in 225 total episodes.

His fighting skills didn’t stop on screen. He also owned the martial arts school Rising Sun Karate. He was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame and holds an 8th-degree black belt. Frank fought in several mixed martial arts bouts in 2009 and 2010.

Walter Emanuel Jones, the original Black Ranger, took to Instagram to remember his former co-star, sharing a picture of the “Power Rangers” squad on the red carpet.
“Can’t believe it…. RIP Jason David Frank,” he wrote with a prayer hands emoji. “My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family.”
