In a proactive move to ensure the safety of Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan amidst rising concerns for his security, the Maharashtra government has elevated his security cover to the prestigious Y-plus category. This upgrade follows a series of threats targeting the beloved actor’s life, a matter that has not gone unnoticed by both the authorities and the public.
Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan, demonstrating his commitment to safety, has graciously agreed to cover the expenses incurred by the state government for his enhanced security measures.
A senior police official shed light on this significant decision, highlighting the heightened threats that emerged following the recent releases of Khan’s movies, “Pathan” and “Jawan”. These security measures aim to ensure that the actor can continue to captivate audiences without compromising his safety.
Previously safeguarded by two dedicated police constables, Shah Rukh Khan’s security detail has now been amped up significantly under the Y-plus cover. This entails the deployment of six police officers working in three shifts to provide round-the-clock protection for the star. Additionally, an extra five police personnel have been stationed at the actor’s residence in Bandra West’s picturesque Bandstand area.
Formalizing this security enhancement, the Maharashtra government issued an official order on October 5th. The order emphasized the need for immediate action and outlined the payment arrangements until the subsequent meeting of the high-level committee responsible for reviewing security provisions in light of evolving threats.
Furthermore, the order urged all superintendents and commissioners of police across Maharashtra to prioritize and ensure security during Shah Rukh Khan’s visits, engagements, and stay within their respective jurisdictions. The collective objective is to maintain a safe environment, minimizing any potential untoward incidents.
