Trump is accused of interfering with the presidential election and attacking the capitol
The significant efforts Donald Trump made to rig the 2020 election were the subject of federal accusations on Tuesday, making it the third time in four months that the former U.S. president has been accused of criminal activity while running for the presidency the next year.

The Republican Trump was accused by the Congress in a 45-page indictment of plotting to cheat America by attempting to block the certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory and depriving voters of their right to a fair election.

In a last-ditch effort to undermine American democracy, prosecutors claim that former President spread claims he knew to be untrue, urging state and federal authorities, including Vice President Mike Pence, to alter the results. He also incited a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol.

He was told to show up in federal court in Washington on Thursday. Tanya Chutkan, a U.S. District Judge selected by Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama, was given the case.

These accusations are the result of a thorough investigation into Trump’s efforts to reverse his loss to Biden, which was conducted by special counsel Jack Smith. Trump has cemented his place as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential candidacy despite the mounting legal issues.

Up to Trump’s angry address on January 6 and Congress’s meeting to certify the results, the narrative of election fraud gathered steam. To stop Congress from officially acknowledging Biden’s victory, his supporters launched a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol shortly after that.

Smith directly blamed Trump for the violence in a brief address to press.

“The assault on the American democracy was unparalleled when it occurred on January 6, 2021, in our nation’s capitol. According to the indictment, it was sparked by misinformation that the opposition spread in an effort to hinder the fundamental operations of the American government, Smith said.

In relation to the assault, more than a thousand people have been detained.
