Jannik Sinner Dominates Luca Nardi to Send Wimbledon Warning to Carlos Alcaraz

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner made a big statement at Wimbledon 2025 with a commanding win over fellow Italian Luca Nardi. On Tuesday, the top seed cruised to a 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 victory, sending a strong warning to his biggest rival, Carlos Alcaraz.

Just a day earlier, Alcaraz struggled through a five-set battle against retiring veteran Fabio Fognini. Despite being the defending Wimbledon champion, Alcaraz looked far from his best. The Spaniard’s shaky performance gave Sinner the perfect chance to steal the spotlight.

And that’s exactly what he did.

Sinner looked sharp from the very first game on Court 1. He held serve comfortably and began putting pressure on Nardi early. The 21-year-old Nardi stayed close in the first two sets, but Sinner always had the edge.

At 5-4 in the first set, Sinner found another gear. A brilliant forehand down the line helped him break serve and close out the set. The second set followed a similar path. Sinner broke early and stayed in control throughout.

Then came the third set — and it was all Sinner. The South Tyrolean star delivered a bagel, winning six straight games to finish the match in style. Nardi appeared to struggle in the rising heat, while Sinner stayed cool and focused.

In his post-match interview with the BBC, Sinner shared his thoughts.

“I’m very, very happy to come back here,” he said. “Playing against an Italian is always a bit sad, but the atmosphere was amazing. It’s very hot and humid — I don’t remember London like this!”

He also praised his improved serve, saying,

“We’ve worked a lot on it. I served well in the important moments. I’m happy with how I finished and hope this gives me confidence for the next match.”

As the top two seeds, Sinner and Alcaraz are set on a collision course. But they can only meet in the Wimbledon final, if both reach that stage. For now, Sinner’s performance has clearly raised the bar — and the pressure.
