The Boston Red Sox have reportedly acquired three-time All-Star first baseman Willson Contreras from the St. Louis Cardinals, along with cash considerations. In return, the Cardinals will receive right-hander Hunter Dobbins and pitching prospects Yhoiker Fajardo and Blake Aita.
Boston is also set to receive $8 million to help cover the remaining $42.5 million on Contreras’ contract. The 33-year-old slugger hit .257 with 20 home runs and 80 RBIs last season, adding proven power and experience to the Red Sox lineup as the two teams complete their second trade in two months.
