Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a stunning performance to crush Real Madrid 4-0 and reach the Club World Cup final. The match took place on Wednesday at MetLife Stadium, where the French side showed complete dominance from the start.
Midfielder Fabian Ruiz was the star of the night, scoring twice in the first half. Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos added one goal each to complete the rout. Real Madrid never looked threatening and failed to respond to PSG’s high-pressure game.
The first goal came in the 6th minute after Raul Asencio’s poor touch gave Dembele the ball. His initial shot was blocked by Thibaut Courtois, but Ruiz scored easily on the rebound.
Just three minutes later, another Madrid error helped PSG double their lead. Antonio Rüdiger’s miskick left Dembele free inside the box, and the winger calmly placed the ball past Courtois to make it 2-0.
In the 24th minute, Achraf Hakimi made a brilliant run on the right and set up Ruiz for his second goal. The Spanish midfielder beat his marker with a smart feint and finished with confidence.
Real Madrid never recovered. Their manager Xabi Alonso had switched to a four-man backline due to the absence of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the change backfired badly. The defense struggled all night against PSG’s pace and pressing.
Even before the goals, PSG showed their intent. In just the fourth minute, Dembele curled a shot that forced Courtois into a brilliant save. Moments later, the Belgian keeper stopped another powerful strike from Ruiz. But he couldn’t keep PSG out for long.
In the second half, Desire Doue had a goal ruled out for offside, but PSG kept control. Real Madrid, on the other hand, made no halftime changes and continued to struggle.
Late in the game, Goncalo Ramos came off the bench and added the fourth goal with a cool finish. Real Madrid looked lifeless in attack and failed to test Gianluigi Donnarumma all night.
Speaking after the match, Ruiz said, “It was an incredible match. The heat was tough, but we stayed focused. We beat a great team like Real Madrid in style.”
Coach Alonso admitted his tactics didn’t work. “We went down 2-0 early, and it hurt. This team is still growing. We’ve only been together for a few weeks, and today is a lesson for us,” he said.
