Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was taken to jail on Wednesday, only hours after the university fired him for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Police say they arrested someone during an assault investigation near Michigan Stadium, but they didn’t confirm the name or share more details.
Sherrone Moore, who had a 9-3 season, was fired for cause, meaning Michigan won’t owe him the remaining years on his $5.5 million contract. His firing comes after past NCAA issues and a rocky two-year run following Michigan’s 2023 national title. Biff Poggi will serve as the interim coach while the Wolverines prepare for the Citrus Bowl.
