The New York Mets are set to strengthen their bullpen with familiar talent, agreeing to a two-year, $22 million deal with right-hander Luke Weaver, pending a physical. Luke Weaver, 32, spent the last two seasons with the Yankees as a late-inning reliever after years as a starter, posting a 2.89 ERA in 2024 and 3.62 ERA in 2025 while making over 60 relief appearances each season.
He briefly served as the Yankees’ closer and setup man, showing more success in relief than as a starter, where he had a 5.05 ERA across 106 career starts. Weaver, a 2014 first-round pick, has pitched for six MLB teams and joins the Mets alongside Devin Williams, with left-handed relievers A.J. Minter and Brooks Raley returning as the team finalizes its bullpen following Edwin Díaz’s departure.
