Croatia beat Canada 4-1 at the Khalifa International Stadium on Sunday.
Andrej Kramaric (twice), Marko Livaja, and Lovro Major scored for Croatia, while Alphonso Davies scored for Canada.
Croatia is now tied with Morocco atop the Group F table, while Canada officially has a game to play. Croatia (4 points), Morocco (4 points), and Belgium (3 points) will fight for two places in the knockout stages.
Things were looking promising for Canada. Just one minute and seven seconds into the match, Davies scored Canada’s first World Cup goal. It was the fastest goal ever scored in the tournament. Canada controlled the rest of the first half. Despite the attack, Canada was unable to score another goal.
Croatia scored in the 36th minute through Andrej Kramaric. Moments later, in the 44th minute, Croatia established its dominance. Marco Livaja scored just before halftime.
Andrej Krameric scored the third goal of the match in the second half. Lovro Major then scored the fourth goal.
Both teams will complete the group stage on Thursday. Croatia will face Belgium, while Canada will face Morocco.
