Elon Musk has bought the social media platform for $44 billion. More than 17.5 million Twitter users voted in the online poll. 10 million of those users voted for Elon Musk to step down as head of Twitter.
Before the polls closed, Elon Musk said he would follow the votes cast by Twitter users.
Many decisions taken by Elon Musk after buying Twitter have been criticized. Recent decisions to suspend journalists, a controversial policy banning the practice of linking to rival platforms, firing half of the company’s employees, and welcoming back individuals previously banned from the platform for not following Twitter’s rules have drawn controversy.
Elon Musk did not immediately comment on the voting results. Although he will step down as CEO, he will remain the owner of Twitter.
Interestingly, rapper Snoop Dogg also polled “Should I run Twitter?” He has 20.8 million followers on Twitter. More than three million votes were cast on his poll. 81% of them want him to run Twitter.
