Alabama picked up a much-needed boost at wide receiver with the commitment of 2026 prospect Maurice Mathis, a 6’0”, 180-pound pass catcher who was previously leaning toward Vanderbilt and Samford.
Mathis impressed new WR coach Derrick Nix during an unofficial visit, earning an offer after showing strong hands, clean routes, and two productive high school seasons that topped 1,000 yards each. With JaMarcus Shephard leaving for Oregon State and several Tide receivers headed for the NFL Draft or the transfer portal, Mathis arrives at the perfect time. He’ll join fellow additions Noah Rogers and MJ Chirgwin, as Alabama works to restock a thin WR room for 2026 and beyond.
