Buffalo Bills Sign First-Round Pick Maxwell Hairston Ahead of Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills have officially signed their first-round draft pick, cornerback Maxwell Hairston, to a rookie contract, the team announced on Friday. This move helps strengthen Buffalo’s secondary as the team prepares for the 2025 NFL season.

Hairston, selected with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, played college football at Kentucky, where he stood out for his speed and ball-hawking skills. The 5-foot-11 cornerback returned three interceptions for touchdowns in his college career, tying a school record. A native of Michigan, Hairston now has a chance to compete for a starting job alongside Christian Benford in the Bills’ defensive backfield.

The rookie signing comes shortly after Buffalo concluded its three-day mandatory minicamp. Hairston missed the final session due to a minor left hamstring injury, which general manager Brandon Beane described as a “small tweak.” The team expects Hairston to be ready for the start of training camp, which kicks off next month.

In addition to Hairston, the Bills also signed fourth-round pick Deone Walker, a powerful defensive tackle who adds depth to Buffalo’s interior line. As of now, eight of the team’s nine draft picks are under contract. The only remaining unsigned player is second-round pick T.J. Sanders, also a defensive tackle.

With the signing of Maxwell Hairston, the Buffalo Bills roster moves closer to completion as the team gears up for a competitive 2025 season. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if Hairston can earn a starting spot and make an impact in his rookie year.
