American tennis player Coco Gauff has advanced to her first Australian Open quarterfinal without dropping a set, defeating Magdalena Frech of Poland 6-1, 6-2.

Gauff, the No. 4 seed, has won 11 consecutive Grand Slam matches and nine consecutive matches on the tour in 2024.

Unlike her U.S. Open run last summer, Gauff has spent three fewer hours on court in Melbourne and hasn't faced a seeded opponent yet.

Her quarterfinal opponent will be Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine.

Gauff, who has had more free time in Melbourne, could potentially face defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.

Sabalenka won her fourth-round match against Amanda Anisimova.

Gauff, who turned 19 in March, reflected on her longevity in the sport, having reached the second week of a Grand Slam for six consecutive years.

In the men's draw, Novak Djokovic reached his 58th Grand Slam quarterfinal, tying Roger Federer's record, by defeating Adrian Mannarino.

Djokovic will face American Taylor Fritz in the next round, who secured his first win over a top-10 player at a Slam by beating Stefanos Tsitsipas.
