Marketa Vondrousova, the former Wimbledon champion, recently announced she had shoulder surgery. The 25-year-old Czech tennis star shared the news just days after pulling out of this year’s U.S. Open due to ongoing injury issues.

Marketa Vondrousova revealed on Instagram that she had been battling shoulder pain for several months. The pain had become so severe that surgery was the only solution. This injury forced her to withdraw not only from the U.S. Open but also from the Paris Olympics.

Last year, Marketa Vondrousova made it to the U.S. Open quarter-finals and was hopeful for a strong performance this year. However, her Wimbledon title defense ended in a surprising first-round loss in July, adding to her challenging season.

Despite these setbacks, Marketa Vondrousova remains optimistic. She assured fans that the surgery went well and that she would start rehab soon. “See you back on the court happy and healthy,” she wrote in her post.

As the tennis world watches her recovery, there’s hope that Vondrousova will return stronger, ready to take on new challenges.
