The Kansas City Chiefs have locked in their star center, Creed Humphrey, ensuring he’ll be snapping footballs to Patrick Mahomes for years to come.

In a major move, the Chiefs and Creed Humphrey have agreed on a four-year, $72 million contract extension. This deal, which includes $50 million in guaranteed money, makes Humphrey the highest-paid center in the NFL. With this extension, he’s committed to Kansas City through the 2028 season.

Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach expressed his excitement during the team’s third preseason game against the Bears, saying, “In the last 24 to 48 hours, we’ve had productive discussions. I’m sure we’ll finalize everything soon. But we are thrilled to keep Creed as a key part of our organization.”

Creed Humphrey has been a standout since the Chiefs selected him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s started all 51 regular-season games since joining the league, making him one of the most reliable players in Chiefs history. His connection with Mahomes has been a crucial element of the team’s success.

Over the past two seasons, Creed Humphrey has allowed only four sacks. In 2023, Pro Football Focus rated him as the top pass-blocking center in the league.

At just 25 years old, Creed Humphrey has already earned two Pro Bowl selections and was named a second-team All-Pro in 2022. His contributions were vital to the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl victories, and with this new deal, he’s poised to chase more championships with the team.

The Chiefs’ decision to secure Creed Humphrey with a record-breaking contract highlights his importance to the team’s future. As one of the NFL’s best centers, he’s set to continue being a cornerstone of Kansas City’s offensive line.
