The Cleveland Cavaliers have been busy this offseason, securing big names like Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen with contract extensions. Yet, one player’s future remains up in the air: Isaac Okoro. As a restricted free agent, Okoro has not yet agreed to a new deal, and time is ticking as training camp approaches.

According to Sam Amico from Hoops Wire, the Cavs have made several offers to Isaac Okoro. However, his camp has turned them down. The Cavaliers are now expected to explore trade options before training camp kicks off in October. While a trade isn’t certain, the Cavs are likely to revisit the idea, as they have already engaged in sign-and-trade discussions, according to sources.

This potential move has been a hot topic recently. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst provided an update, mentioning the limited communication between the Cavs and Isaac Okoro’s team. He noted that discussions might ramp up as camp draws closer. Windhorst also hinted that the Cavaliers have offered Okoro a multiyear deal, but it’s unclear how appealing that offer is.

Isaac Okoro has been a valuable player for the Cavs over the last four seasons, often coming off the bench. Last season, he averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 49% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc. Okoro has also been one of Cleveland’s top perimeter defenders, earning recognition as one of the best in the league.

However, the Cavs have depth in their wing-guard positions. If Okoro were to be traded, players like Caris LeVert could take on a bigger role off the bench. Additionally, Jaylon Tyson, the Cavs’ first-round pick from the 2024 NBA Draft, has shown potential as a strong scorer off the bench.

As the offseason winds down, all eyes are on Isaac Okoro’s contract situation. Whether he stays or goes, the decision will have a significant impact on the Cavs’ roster moving forward.
