Winklevoss Twins Donate $2M in Bitcoin to Trump, Criticize Biden’s Crypto Policies

Winklevoss Twins Donate Bitcoin Trump
The Winklevoss twins, prominent figures in the cryptocurrency world, have each donated $1 million in Bitcoin to Donald Trump’s campaign and pledged their votes for him in November. They criticized Joe Biden, accusing him of “openly declaring war against crypto.”

Cameron Winklevoss stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Trump supports Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and business, and promised to end what he called the Biden Administration’s hostile stance towards crypto.

Tyler Winklevoss also criticized Biden’s crypto policies, urging the “crypto army” to oppose Washington’s attacks, which he claimed were political suicide. He accused the Biden administration of using regulators to hinder the crypto industry, which he argued tainted their mission and integrity.

At a recent fundraiser in San Francisco, Trump positioned himself as a defender of cryptocurrency, criticizing Democratic efforts to regulate the sector.

According to Forbes, the Winklevoss brothers are each worth $2.7 billion. They have faced challenges in the crypto realm amid broader issues linked to the collapse of Sam Bankman-Fried’s FTX exchange.

Nearly two decades ago, the twins sued Mark Zuckerberg over claims he stole their idea for Facebook, before establishing the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange.

Gemini, their exchange, recently faced restrictions in New York for allegedly misleading investors about the risks of its Earn scheme. New York Attorney General Letitia James accused the firm of deceiving “hundreds of thousands” of people, leading to an agreement between Gemini and her office.

The Winklevoss twins gained initial fame from their portrayal in “The Social Network,” a film about Facebook’s origins. They attended Harvard with Zuckerberg, eventually settling a lawsuit alleging he stole their concept for a website they called Harvard Connection (later named The Facebook) for $65 million.
