Vikings vs Colts: In a resilient second-half surge, the Minnesota Vikings snapped their two-game losing streak by overcoming the Indianapolis Colts 21-13 on Sunday night, showing determination to bounce back after a rough stretch in their season.
Sam Darnold, quarterback for the Vikings, threw for 290 yards with three touchdowns, but his night was far from perfect. Despite three turnovers – two interceptions and a fumble – Darnold led Minnesota (6-2) to a victory that brought them back on track.
The Vikings offense found its rhythm in the second half, scoring on their first two drives after halftime and solidifying the win with a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The game marked a fresh start for Minnesota after a challenging week. The Vikings, desperate for a win after back-to-back losses to Detroit and Los Angeles, had also suffered a setback with offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw’s knee injury. In response, the Vikings traded for Cam Robinson, who made an immediate impact by starting on the line only three days after his first practice.
Star receiver Justin Jefferson showcased his playmaking ability once again, pulling in seven catches for 137 yards, marking his 32nd career game with 100+ yards. His presence on the field provided a crucial boost for the Vikings offense in key moments.
On the Colts’ side, 39-year-old veteran Joe Flacco made his first start, taking over for second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. Flacco threw for 179 yards but had difficulty overcoming the Vikings’ defense. Indianapolis, struggling on the ground, ended with only 68 rushing yards, a season low that contributed to their offensive struggles.
Indianapolis tried to mount a comeback with a late field goal, but they failed to recover the onside kick, sealing the game for Minnesota. The Vikings now look forward to building on this momentum as they aim to maintain their strong season record heading into Week 10.
