Aaron Judge powered the New York Yankees to a 6-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday, hitting his league-leading 48th home run.
It was his third consecutive game with a homer, as he launched a 2-1 changeup from Guardians’ starter Gavin Williams into the right-field seats. The solo shot in the fourth inning gave the Yankees an early 1-0 lead. Aaron Judge has been on fire lately, with six home runs in his last seven games and 13 in his past 24.
Yankees’ ace Gerrit Cole earned his 150th career win, becoming just the fourth active pitcher to reach this milestone. Cole, who allowed only one hit over six innings, battled through five walks, tying a career high. Despite the walks, he kept the Guardians scoreless. The only hit Cole gave up was a single to Steven Kwan on the second pitch of the game.
Gavin Williams (2-6) took the loss for Cleveland, allowing three runs on four hits in just over four innings. He struck out five and walked four. Williams exited the game after Juan Soto grounded into a forceout, which was followed by Giancarlo Stanton’s 21st home run of the season, a two-run blast that widened the Yankees’ lead.
This victory added to the Yankees’ recent momentum, with Aaron Judge continuing to lead the charge as they aim for a strong finish to the season.
